nigata meijo

Niigata Meijo is located in Ojiya in the central region of Niigata Prefecture 150 miles north of Tokyo. A fertile valley for rice farming surrounded by snow-covered mountains in winter, the environment is ideal for sake production. The company’s brewery has produced sake and distributed other wholesale beverages for 70 years.

Niigata Meijo sake products have received major awards including the best sake award at the Kanto Regional Sake Appraisal and 13 consecutive gold medal awards at the National New Sake Appraisal. Its sake has a characteristic gorgeous-smooth-clean flavour profile with clear finish, and one of the products in a small cup package (180ml) received the Grand Prix award of Japan’s Cup sake in 2008. The brewery was established in 1872, making it over 150 years old.

Niigata Meijo is known for producing high-quality sake using locally sourced ingredients, including the famous Yamada Nishiki rice. They use traditional brewing techniques combined with modern technology to create their sake.

Niigata Meijo has won several awards for their sake, including the gold medal at the Annual Japan Sake Awards and the gold medal at the International Wine Challenge in London. These awards are a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of Niigata Meijo's sake.

Niigata Meijo offers a range of sake varieties, including Junmai Daiginjo, Ginjo, and Honjozo, each with its unique flavor profile and characteristics. Their sake is known for its smoothness, depth of flavor, and balance.
